PROCEDURE:

This is a digitally acquired sleep deprived electroencephalogram. Both referential and bipolar montages are examined. Electrodes are placed in accordance with the international 10-20 system. Recording time: *** min.

BACKGROUND:

During wakefulness, the dominant posterior rhythm was *** Hz, which was symmetric and reactive to eye opening bilaterally.

OTHER FINDINGS:

There was no focal or generalized epileptiform activity observed during this recording. There was no focal or generalized slowing observed.

HYPERVENTILATION:

Hyperventilation was performed for 3 minutes with good effort. No significant changes in the dominant posterior rhythm observed during hyperventilation. No abnormalities were noted with hyperventilation.

PHOTIC STIMULATION:

Physiologic driving was present. No abnormalities were observed with photic stimulation.

SLEEP:

Drowsiness was evidenced by waxing and waning of the posterior alpha rhythm. Vertex waves were observed over the fronto-central region. Sleep spindles and K-complexes were observed.

IMPRESSION:

This Awake and Asleep EEG is normal. No epileptiform activity was recorded during this study.
